Since the school reflects the Directors’ backgrounds, the training at Slavin Nadal is based on Russian Technique while also taking some of the best from the French, English and Danish systems .While the majority of classes are taught by the Directors, all faculty are themselves products of this training and have a demonstrated love for teaching, thus ensuring a clear and unified approach to the curriculum at all levels.
CHARACTER DANCE
In ballet, character dancing refers not to the portrayal of a character but to dancing based on folk or national dances. Character dances are prominently featured in classics such as Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. More importantly however, this is a form of dancing that helps develop an expressiveness and expansiveness of movement that is an asset to virtually any style of dancing. Nationally known as a character teacher, Mr. Slavin teaches monthly character classes for certain levels as part of the curriculum.
OPEN CLASS WEEK
Open Class Week is held at the end of the Fall Semester. Family and friends are invited to observe classes of any level.
SPRING CONCERT
The school presents an annual Spring Concert in May. Students have the opportunity to use what they have learned during the year in a theatrical setting. Since exposure to the stage is a very special experience, participation in the concert is encouraged but not mandatory.
SUMMER CLASSES
Summer classes include Workshops and special courses that are not available during the academic year.
